Successful volkssports Olympiad in Bibione

A clearly positive resume Odd Ivar Ruud and Ewald Kraeft, president and vice president of the international folksport association, announced to the Folkport Olympic Games from 3. till 6. June 1999 in Bibione. For a smooth implementation of the event, everybody attested an outstanding care of the people athletes on the road and beautiful wheel- and hiking trails were certified to the IVV, the Italian folksports association FIASP and the organizers 

The bare numbers are not standing out but satisfying: About 6.000 people athletes, 4.000 with IVV recordbooks participated at the hikes with various distances whereby most participants choose the 10 km stretch of road and as well the 28 km. Possibly because of the large heat only few hundred participants dared the 42 km - marathon. Quite to a flop the Bambini-Short- distanz developed of only 7 distance with about 250 participants and only few children. 

Appro 1.500 folkathletes fulfilled the Triathlon judge (going, cycling and swimming), 800 cyclists separately took the 25- and 50 kms wheel distance in attack and additional 700 athletes took part at folkswimming.

"IVV state judging" won, how should be it different, the German people athletes, which where here with 1.500 active. most of the round 2.000 Italian wandering friends were without IVV-recordbooks on the way. With great numbers of participants, the Austrians and surprisingly also the Norwegians and Esthonians took part in due to the geographical proximity offer (by itself along with 300 participants).

All participant especially praised the excellent care during the sports practice. Embellish distances along the beach and through the woods, pleased the participants just like good catering in the control places. Drinks of all manner and small strengthenings were available cost freely. Also, in the area of safety the organizers had prepared on the migrant- and wheel distances. Thus the street crossings and large portions of the bicycle paths secured for example traffic piloting at the migrant paths.

Modern Trekking bycyles were available to the cyclists to sufficient measure and the carrying out of the bicycle rental company went smoothly.

A successful frame program provided good mood and upkeep during the event days. The large opening march through the streets of Bibione into the sports stadium with several thousand participants and interested Italian spectators will remain the people athletes certain in memory. Also the a little melancholic farewell celebration with obtaining the Italian flag and the handing over of the IVV flag to the Austrian people sports association remains the liner up of the IVV Olympiad in 2001 (Seefeld/ Tirol) unforgotten. In between lay much athletic drifting and the delight of a large people sports family belong.
